ล่าสุด นักวิจัยแห่งมหาวิทยาลัยแบรดฟอร์ด ในยุโรป เพิ่งออกมาฟันธงว่า เหตุทีี่่่เม็ดสีในเส้นผมเปลี่ยนไปนั้น เป็นเหตุมาจาก ไฮดรอกเซน เปอร์ออกไซด์ ( Hydroxen Peroxide ) โดยนักวิจัยระบุว่า ผมหงอกนั้นมาจากการพัฒนาของไฮดรอคเซน เปอร์ออกไซด์ ซึ่งไหลออกมาจากท่อขุมขนที่ผิวหนัง จนไปสะกัดกั้นการสร้างเมลานิน สารที่ทำให้เส้นผมมีสีเป็นธรรมชาติ และเมื่อร่างกายไม่สามารถผลิตเมลานินได้มากพอ เส้นผมจึงกลายเป็นสีเทานั่นเอง

แต่ยังไม่มีวิธีใดรักษาผมหงอกได้ นอกจากแค่พยายามทำทรีตเม้นท์ช่วยบำรุงหนังศีรษะให้แข็งแรง หรือไม่ก็โกรกสี การเจอสาเหตุของผมหงอกที่แท้จริง จึงช่วยขยับเราไปสู่ความอ่อนเยาว์อีกก้าวสำคัญ
